The Sohipotome radio special (previously known as Women In Hip Hop) will air Thursday March 11, 2010 on WXYC 89.3 FM Chapel Hill, NC.The radio special has been taking place for 4 years. It began as an idea when late one night I was digging in the vinyl stacks of the radio station and found tons of records from female rappers. And they had not been played in a long time. There was dust everywhere! Anyway I pulled those records out, cleaned them up and decided to dedicate a whole night to those forgotten femcees. Hence the women in hip hop radio special was born, which has led to the honors and concert event.
2010 will mark the 5th year for the radio special spinning female emcees exclusively all night. World wide streaming will be available on WXYC's website.
